Frequently asked questions and the answers |
Before start your kitchen and bathroom remodeling projects, please let us share some of our mostly encountered questions and our answers with you on how your goal can be achived by benifiting from our quality products, low costs and experienced technicians. 1) Why granite? Granite counters used to be the luxury item in home remodeling with high costs. Now it has become the most popular remodeling item due to the largely reduced costs. Granite countertops add a sophisticated, luxurious appearance to your kitchen and bathroom. They are naturally more resistant to staining, resistant to scratching, and hot items. Granite countertops have high re-sale values. They still look new even after several years of use. Granite is easy to clean, especially with undermount sink. Unlike other materials, granite is a sanitary countertop material since it does not promote bacteria growth. 2) How to take care of granite? Granite has relative high hardness and density, comparing with other natural stone and rock products. The surface is very resistant to staining and scratching, even by knife blades. So it is mostly maintenance free. But as a natural product, granite still has small pores on the surface. If oily items stay on the surface for long time, it still can get into the pores and leave staining spot. But the good news is that, application of surface sealant twice a year will resolve this problem. As matter of fact, most of these granite sealants sold in the most popular home decor stores can increase glowing effects. They are not expansive either. 3) Radiation from granite? Radon gas can originate from Uranium decay. The EPA recommended standard for radon in air is 4 pCi/L, which can be tested in your house using Radon testing kit sold by most hardware stores ($15 to $30 per kit). Uranium is present in various kinds of natural substances including seawater, soils, rock like granite. There are debates regarding how much radiation problem granite can cause. Is it a fact, or myth? You may want to do your search and make your own judgment. The best thing you can do is to have home tested for radon level in air by a professional, or using the above testing kit. Granite has been used in offices, building, and homes for decays in different parts of world. 4) Why JS Unique Stones?
